It all began in 1913 near Essen-Borbeck, in the heart of the Ruhr when Heinrich Deichmann, born in 1888, and his wife Julie opened a shoe factory. Two generations and 100 years later, the business is now a leader on the European market. DEICHMANN is currently present in 24 counties with more than 3,600 stores, and employs around 36,150 people. Deichmann has nonetheless remained a family business that relies on its own strength in order to grow.
